What is a Great Taste Award?

The Great Taste Awards is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme, run by the Guild of Fine Food.

For these awards, every product is judged blind. Panels of more than 500 industry experts, chefs, buyers, and food writers among them, taste each item on flavour, texture, and quality alone, without ever seeing the branding or name of the producer.

quotes
The nicely melded blend is consistently medium-dark roasted. The whole beans relay enticing, depth of roasted nuts, while the ground beans are deeply chocolatey. Rather more muted on the aroma in the cup, albeit with suggestions of nuts and fruit. The blend works well on the palate, with pleasant sweetness complemented by a touch of bright acidity; beautifully rounded, not least on the finish. Adding milk delivers pleasing toffee and light caramel notes. A delightful anytime, any day coffee with, we imagine, wide appeal, and apparent consistency in delivery.

Lots of the chocolate and nuts in the physical aromas, with the coffee giving a more rounded bouquet with that cocoa sweetness and a good depth. We didn't get the expected Colombian fruit, but enjoyed the rounded flavour of this. There is a little bitterness but when we added milk it really came into its own, and those flavours expand on the palate and then linger into the finish delightfully.

quotes
These beans are sweet and fruity on the nose. The coffee on the palate is fruity, boozy, and juicy, with an almost tropical flavour. It is rich and full-bodied. The sweetness on the nose continues when you drink it. The finish is subtle, clean and smooth. With milk, it is punchy, with more fruitiness, not too sweet, but very enjoyable.
