Affogato coffee - an Italian dessert to impress

In Italian, ‘affogato’ means ‘drowned’ - which, when you read the recipe, makes perfect sense. To be honest, though, we’re not really bothered what the name means, we’re just grateful they exist at all. And why wouldn’t we? It’s coffee. With ice cream. Need we say more?

Preparation time: 5 minutes Cooking time: 2 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot of espresso
  • 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
  • 1 amaretti biscuit

Method:

  1. Brew a shot of espresso (or, alternatively, brew a stronger-than-usual shot with your preferred method)

  2. Add a scoop (or two!) of ice cream into a bowl

  3. Pour over your shot of coffee

  4. Crumble your biscuit and sprinkle over the top
