Here’s how to create an espresso martini without an espresso machine.
Ingredients
- 1 heaped tablespoon of ground coffee - use whichever grind size is suitable for your brew method
- 18ml Kahlúa
- 35ml vodka
- Water
- Ice

- Martini glass
- Brewer of your choice e.g. V60, AeroPress or cafetière
- Cocktail shaker
Method
- Brew one heaped tablespoon of ground coffee with 40ml of water using your chosen brew method.
Tip: You want strong coffee for this, so let the grounds steep for at least five minutes. If using a filter method, heat the coffee and water on the stove for five minutes on a low heat before pouring through the filter.
- Allow coffee to completely cool.
- Half fill your shaker with ice.
- Add the Kahlúa, vodka and cooled coffee to the shaker.
- Shake vigorously until the shaker becomes extremely cold.
- Pour through the strainer into your glass - and enjoy!
